Edna Orozco

Was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1977. She lived in Berlin, Germany for seven years, where she has worked in several projects with projections, musicians and dancers. Edna has dedicated more than ten years to the reflection and experimentation between different disciplines. She studied music at the kids and teenagers Conservatory of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia; finished Literature Studies at Universidad Javeriana de Bogotá, studied Documentary-making at Fundación Lumière, Cinema Direction with the Cuban director Fernando Pérez and Experimental Animation at universidad Javeriana of Bogota. Her work as a VJ (video jockey) fuels her passion for the live performance. She has  created virtual stage scenes for theatre and contemporary dance plays and participates in diverse festivals. In 2006 helps to set up VideoPopuli, the itinerary festival of experimental video, with other visual artists and musicians. VideoPopuli have held exhibitions and live performances in Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, France and Germany. Her videos have been exhibited at festivals in Colombia, Mexico, Croatia, France, Germany and  India, and are part of the compiled DVDs of Visual Berlin and Creative Commons. Has also collaborated with different  art media festivals by teaching and organizing workshops. Produces and teaches video mapping technics in arquitectonical structures and in several pieces of contemporary dance, and direct and produces her own multimedia projects. She has created ATI-erra, multimedia dance. In 2010, she created the ATI-erra, multimedia dance, laboratory. With which she has created three works: “QUIA, the same someone else” National Fund Cinematography Grant, Experimental Animation Diploma (2010); “Nodes, bodies in expansion” Creation grant in dance and technology of the Ministry of Culture of Colombia (2015); and “La Colmena” The Hive Project, Multidisciplinary Creation Scholarship 2018-1019 Co-production Theaters Jorge Eliécer Gaitán and Julio Mario Santodomingo. In her work the relationship between the arts and various areas of knowledge such as science, technology and mysticism is always present in the search for scenic construction as a plastic space in which dance appears as a third dimension of philosophy.

She has been a professor of video and digital arts at the Javeriana University of Bogotá. Currently is a production consultant for residents of the Bogotá Dance Platform of the IDARTES District Institute for the Arts.
